Australian Financial Review’s Life and Leisure columnist, Tim White has been announced as the lead judge for the Geographe & WA Alternatives Wine Show 2017. In addition to his extensive journalism career, Tim is an experienced wine show judge having served as a panel chair at the Royal Melbourne and Adelaide wine shows. He was also the inaugural chief judge of the Australian Alternative Wine Show (AAVWS) and remains committed to alternatives varieties. Tim will be supported by Eloise Jarvis, owner of Margaret River Wine Solutions and a passionate winemaking consultant with over 20 years’ experience in the Margaret River and south-west regions. Wrapping up the senior position is one of Australia’s most awarded sommeliers, Dan Wegener. He was Head Sommelier at Quay in Sydney and penned Australia’s most awarded wine list at Perth’s Print Hall. He is also a recent recipient of the elusive Grand Award by Decanter Magazine in 2015. Since relocating to the West in 2011 as Director of Beverage at Print Hall Dan has emerged as a great advocate of Western Australian wine and actively supports the regions. Associate Judges are Daniel Stocker, Vineyard Manager for Arimia Estate while pursuing a passion for organic farming, and Evan Thompson. Evan has worked 20+ vintages in various parts of Australia, USA, France and Germany. The Geographe Wine Show offers Western Australian producers of alternative variety wines the opportunity to showcase their wines in two dedicated Alternative Variety classes.
