Find Art & Culture this Spring in BunGeo

From Japanese film festivals to evenings spent making pottery and drinking wine – BunGeo’s array of art and culture events will keep you occupied this Spring.

The Japanese Film Festival started in Australia in 1997 with three film screenings and is now one of the largest celebrations of Japanese films in the world. From crowd-pleasing anime favourites to poignant human drama, the festival brings exciting new Japanese film content to a wide audience. This initiative aims to support and grow interest in Japanese films and cinema culture throughout the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia. The City of Bunbury brings a unique selection of films from the festival to Bunbury’s BREC from September 4-12th, 2020.

BRAG is launching its first ‘MWA’ event – Music, Wine and Art – from 6:30pm-9:30pm on September 10th, 2020. Local wineries from the Geographe region will be offering tastings of some of their newly released wines and will give you an insight into their practice of wine making. South West musician Serge Le Goueff and artist Heidi Em will collaborate by using music and brush strokes as inspiration to create an artwork on the spot. Enjoy the evening with canapes from Market Eating House and rediscover your Art Gallery after dark.

Claire Davenhall is an international artist who explores the early migration of people to Australia through her sculptural work, capturing the lost soles from convict women from the first and second fleets. This exhibition aims to provide historical identity to those lost souls, condemned to transportation, sentenced to land beyond the sea.

Spring flowers, guest ‘blooming artists’, large exhibits, contemporary designs, botanical jewellery, and much much more – this year’s Blooming Art Exhibition at BRAG is not to be missed!

Come and join Lucy from Not Yet Perfect at Maker & Co for a creative evening of Pottery & Wine! With a glass of wine in hand, embark on a relaxing session of pottery handbuilding. Learn how to handbuild mugs and tea cups in a relaxed and fun environment – no previous skills required, simply bring your authentic self.

Looking for a way to celebrate colour and express yourself? The Colour Exhibition is an exhibition of arts and crafts showcasing all the colours under the sun. There’s a reason why we don’t see the world in black and white – come and discover why at this year’s exhibition.

Note: The Visit Bunbury Geographe team have done their utmost to ensure the above event listings are correct at time of publishing. In this changing environment, we suggest that you please confirm event details with each event host to avoid disappointment/missing out.
