Bunbury Geographe Gift 2020 | 29 February – March 1

Held during the Labour Day long weekend, the Bunbury Geographe Gift is Australia’s second richest ‘Gift’ event, following behind the storied Stawell Gift. This family friendly festival sees Australia’s fastest athletes compete to win a number of prizes, equalling to a $60,000 prize pool. Come along with the family and take part in a variety of fun activities and novelty races, then feast on a delicious range of food, wine and beer. For a VIP experience, don’t miss getting tickets to the BGG 2020 VIP tent, where you can enjoy the best seats in the house while enjoying complimentary beverages from local producers and mouth-watering finger foods by the Bunbury Farmers Market.

2020 BMXWA Super Series | February 15

The first round of the 2020 BMXWA Smarter Than Smoking Super Series kicks off in Bunbury on February 15. This popular BMX event sees more than 500 riders, ranging from Mini Wheelers (2 years +) to the 50+ class, compete in an action-packed one-day tournament at Bunbury BMX Club. If you’re looking for a fun-filled day for both big and little kids, with a bit of friendly competition thrown into the mix, then you’ll want to get along to this year’s BMXWA Super Series.

Bunbury Race Week | March 4 – 8

Make sure you visit the Bunbury Turf Club from March 4 – 8 for an incredible week of horse racing action. Kicking off on March 4 with Bunbury Stakes Day and finishing with the Bunbury Cup on March 8, the 2020 Bunbury Cup has something for everyone. Watch the famous $120,000 Amelia Park Farm Bunbury stakes race, dress-up for the Bunbury Cup Gala Dinner or frock up for Fashions on the Field. Feel like socialising? Don’t pass on Bunbury Cup’s newest addition – the Furphy Beer Hall; a social emporium, with DJ entertainment and a six-hour drinks package complementing American BBQ eats.

LGM Bunbury City Classic Triathlon | February 16

The highly regarded LGM Industries Bunbury City Classic Triathlon is set to return to Bunbury on February 16. Incorporating the pristine and protected beach area of Koombana Bay, the Bunbury City Classic course sees participants swim close to the beach, ride through the city centre and out along the coastline of Back Beach, then run around the Leschenault estuary, through the waterfront area up to the lighthouse and back to Koombana Bay, all the while taking in spectacular views of Bunbury. This event is a State Standard Distance Championship race and a qualifying event for the Age Group Team for the 2020 ITU World Championships. It also incorporates the SunSmart Kids Aquathlon (Swim & Run, no bike leg).

Perth Glory Vs Western Sydney Wanderers W-League | February 29

Perth Glory will be playing its final game of the regular Westfield W-League 2019/20 Season at Hay Park in Bunbury on February 29. Get down to Hay Park to watch the Perth Glory women’s team clash with the Western Sydney Wanderers (kick off at 7.15pm). During the week, coaching clinics and training sessions by Football West, plus a Coach the Coaches clinic conducted by Glory’s Westfield W-League Head Coach, Bobby Despotovski, will be run in the BunGeo area. Action Sport Games | February 29 – March 1

Flips, ollies and 360s – see them all during Action Sports Games​, this February 29 and March 1. Catch some of Australia’s best wakeboarders, skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders and freestyle motocross riders in action, then indulge on tasty treats at the Summer Food Truck Festival at Market Square, Koombana Bay. This thrill-seekers’ challenge will be held at Bunbury Skate Park on February 29, and at Koombana Bay on March 1.

24 Hours of Lemons @ Collie Motorplex | April 3 – 4 and October 16 – 18

Racing enthusiasts will be treated to a weekend of hilarious fun, fumes and funky cars as the light-hearted, biggest and cheapest motorsport on the planet – 24 Hours of Lemons – takes over Collie Motorplex. It’s a breeding ground for inflated egos and God like status… Watch Mercedes, Mazda, Toyota and Hyundai do battle for the glory of ongoing gloating rights. This is also the first time the Collie Motorplex will be in action, non-stop for 24 hours.

Three Waters Running Festival | April 5

The HBF Three Waters Running Festival marks 39 years of the Bunbury Marathon. Test your agility by taking part in the 5km or 10km runs, the half marathon, marathon or ultra marathon. The scenic running route passes three waterways, Leschenault Inlet, Koombana Bay and the Indian Ocean, on a course and is designed to showcase Bunbury’s natural assets. Face painting and a bouncy castle will be operating for the young at heart, whilst coffee, ice creams and a sausage sizzle will be available for hungry participants and spectators.

The Bolwell National is heading to Bunbury on April 11, bringing with it great historic vehicles from around the country. Come down to the Pat Usher Foreshore (just off Blair Street) to view the Bolwell cars at the Bolwell National Static Car Meet and Greet.

Linga Longa MTB Empire Cup | April 18

The Linga Longa MTB Empire Cup is a two-day mountain bike festival brought to you by Empire Cycles and some of the biggest brands in the industry. Celebrate good times, on and off the bike, with unlimited shuttle access, camping, live music, and an interactive riders’ village with expo and trade setups. You can also catch Specialized Australia, who are coming across from their Australian HQ armed with their Turbo Levo E-bike Demo fleet.

Champions League Basketball 3×3 | April 18 – 19

Champions League Basketball 3X3 is heading to the Bunbury’s Bicentennial Square for the very first time this April. CBL3X3 will host a two-day event covering a mixed corporate cup competition, a juniors competition and the popular opens competition. Skills n Drills, Intro to 3X3, kids entertainment, music, prizes, three-point shoots and more. All ages and skill levels are encouraged enter and have some fun! Spectators can enjoy this family friendly event for free, with teams paying a small team fee to enter.

Ernie Hastie Memorial Race | May 2 – 3

Following the 2020 HQ Racing WA Championships? Catch rounds three and four, which incorporate the annual Ernie Hastie Memorial Race, at the Collie Motorplex from May 2 – 3. The Ernie Hastie Memorial consists of two qualifiers and six races over the two days. The State Championship rounds will feature Hyundai Excels, Formula Classic, Formula Vee, Historic Touring Cars, HQ Holdens, Improved Production Cars, Saloon Cars, Sports/Street Cars, Modern and Historic Regularity. Adults $5 entry, free entry for kids.

Over 55 Cycling Anniversary Tour | May 4 – 5

The Over 55 Cycling Club is celebrating its 35 anniversary with a massive ride from Perth to Busselton, via Bunbury Geographe. This pedal-powered club for mature age cyclists will visit the historic town of Yarloop and then on to the beautiful township of Harvey, staying overnight at the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre. Riders will lunch at the French Bakery or enjoy a Devonshire Tea at the historic Stirling Cottage on the banks of the Harvey River. Those seeking a challenge will tackle the steep 40km return ride past the beautiful Logue Brook Dam or enjoy a shorter ride to the picturesque Harvey Dam and Amphitheatre. After a hearty breakfast, riders will travel the beautiful farm areas of Wokalup, Benger and Brunswick Junction, stopping at the White Rock Historic Dairy Farm and Museum, then through the township of Australind and onto Bunbury for an overnight at P.C. Payne Park. On Day 4, riders will head south to Dalyellup before crossing the highway and cycling through the quiet country roads of Gelorup Rise and the Tuart Forests of Capel, before arriving in Busselton.

South West Junior Hockey Championships | May 30 – June 1

The South West Junior Hockey Championships was first run in 1991 by a handful of Bunbury volunteers who wanted to utilise the new sand turf to promote and develop junior hockey.  Starting with only a handful of teams, this event has now grown to one of the biggest carnivals in Australia,with over 140 teams travelling to Bunbury to participate in the three-day event. In 2020, more than 130 teams (almost 1800 players) from across WA will take part in 470 games, across 12 divisions, at the Bunbury Hockey Stadium.

State Youth Games | May 30 – June 1

State Youth Games is a weekend of fun, friendship and plenty of sport held in Bunbury on the WA Day long weekend. Run by On Mission Games in partnership with Youth Vision, the games are designed to bring together 1000 people between the ages of 16 and 28 years, from around WA. Head to Hay Park to see participants compete in a variety of different sports – from football, netball, soccer and volleyball, to fishing, bocce and scrabble.
