Presented by CycleSport WA on behalf of Cycling Australia, and supported by the City of Bunbury, the Junior Road National Championships is expected to attract up to 300 of the country’s most promising young cyclists in the under 15 and 17 categories.
The National Championships will also be the final event in the inaugural National Junior Road Series (NJRS) which will roll out across the country from April 2018.
The event will showcase the City of Bunbury to some of the nations best athletes and draw visitors from across the country from as far as Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales.
Individual Time Trial
9am – 1pm
Set on the beautiful and pristine coastline of the Indian Ocean, the Time Trial course will take in the Upper Esplanade and Ocean Drive over an 8.5 km (under 15s) and 14 km distance (under 17s). A traditional ‘out and back’ course designed to maximise the surroundings and test each rider’s ability.
Saturday 22 September
9am – 3pm
Just 18 kilometres from the Bunbury CBD is the beautiful Ferguson Valley, a picturesque rural area situated between the country towns of Dardanup and Collie. The Road Race will take place amongst beautiful rolling hills and green pastures, this combined with pristine bushland will create a stunning natural backdrop. With distances between 39kms and 68kms for each age category, this testing circuit will surely provide some fantastic racing.
Sunday 23 September
9am – 3pm
Back on the Indian Ocean waterfront, the 1.5 km Criterium circuit again will provide stunning scenery and super-fast action. Just three minutes from the heart of the Bunbury CBD, this event will not only showcase the nation’s best young talent, but also provide for fantastic viewing
