Sorry, the secret’s out! Kirsten Hyam from Australian Traveller magazine finds WA’s secret valley – The Ferguson Valley!
“Just two hours south of Perth, you’ll discover a bucolic landscape that deserved your attention…..lush green fields, meandering brooks and cattle grazing roadside. You’d think you were in the English countryside if not for the golden wattle wafting gently in the breeze, the skittish willie wagtails and the marri tree that line the winding roads of the Ferguson Valley…while fellow Western Australia gourmet destinations such as Margaret River and the Swan Valley are relatively flat, Ferguson’s bucolic rolling hills are a major drawcard, with sweeping vistas over the Geographe region to the Indian Ocean.”
Kirsten tells readers that, “it’s this type of laconic outlook on life (Ed: of our fab Ferguson Valley tourism operators) that is drawing more and more people away from the Margaret River region.” We say do it all – start in the Geographe Wine region near Harvey, head to the Ferguson Valley, and then on to Margaret River through the Preston Valley, Donnybrook and Capel. Gourmet lovers you will thank us!
