1. Manea Park, Bunbury
Located south of the City near College Grove, Manea Park is home to more than 30 species of orchids. Bunbury’s premier bush reserve the park is also home to several threatened species including the forest red-tailed black cockatoo.
2. Crooked Brook, Ferguson Valley
The Forest Path at Crooked Brook is a hidden jewel for those with limited mobility, providing easy access to an area of natural bushland. The path features interpretive signage about the flora and fauna and plenty of bench seats.
3. Wellington Discovery Forest
Wildflowers abound the Wellington National Park. However, we suggest heading to the Wellington Discovery Forest for the best views and walking trails.
4. Karak (Red Tail) Trail, Collie
A walk along the Karak Red Trail starting from the cemetery provides an abundant display of stunning wildflowers.
5. Bibbulmun Track
You’ll find wildflowers all along the track, but a hotspot is the track section from Mornington Road to Patstone Road.
6. Ironstone Gully Falls, Capel
If you are heading southeast from Capel towards Donnybrook along Goodwood Road, it’s worth stopping at the picturesque Ironstone Gully Falls picnic area.
7. Sandhills Walk Trail, Donnybrook
Donnybrook is one of the top places in WA to see thousands of Kangaroo Paws. For the best viewing point, #BunGeo recommends taking the Sandhills Walk Trail.
8. Racecourse Flora Reserve, Balingup
The Blackwood Valley region is one of the most biodiverse floral regions in the world, boasting some species unique to the area. In spring, you can drive around all day and rarely see a field that is not flush with flowers. When in Balingup, don’t miss a trip the Racecourse Flora Reserve.
9. Korijekup Conservation Reserve, Harvey
From Blue Tinsel Lily to White Spider Orchid, you will find it in the Harvey Hills region, with Korijekup Conservation Park (off Morton Road) a #BunGeo wildflower favourite place.
