The existing BunGeo single tracks and the Munda Biddi Trail are already the places to go for adventures on two wheels (Ed note – runners love it too), but new trails are quickly popping up too. Check out the newest kid on the block – the recently opened Collie Town Trails. Design and constructed by Common Ground Trails they are a fun and easy flow trail on the edge of the town centre.
Here’s a few to get your cogs turning:
Accessed via the Munda Biddi trail the local favourites of Dead Cat and Rays Trail are part of this network. There is also a collection of forest access trails that allow a leisurely ride on mellow trails. Afterwards, trek 100 metres to Harris River Estate Winery & Brewery.
- Dead Cat: 1-3 hours | 3.8 km
- Rays Trail: 1-3 hours | 8 km (Loop)
Leading MTB trail design and construction company, Common Ground Trails has recently completed the new Wagyl Biddi Trail - a fun and easy flow trail network on the edge of the town centre. The trail is designed around a key beginner classification spine trail linking Soldiers Park to Reserve 15783. Connecting loops, ranging from beginner to intermediate, will provide a variety of riding experiences. All loops can be ridden as a circuit without crossing or doubling back, which is advantageous for racing formats.
The 46.5km Collie to Darkan Rail Trail passes through bush and picturesque farmlands. In springtime, the area is carpeted in wildflowers. The multi-use trail is a pleasant two-day journey suitable for horse and bike riders. The trail starts at Buckingham - on the Coalfields Highway, 20kms east of Collie.
Pile Road as it's known to the majority of Mountain Bikers is a fun area of trails that are on the most part built on a very gentle slope. The ups are consistent but gentle, the down often requires a little pedalling to get up to top speed. Compared to modern trails these are a little more organic with less machine made trail and jumps. The one exception is the jump area at the bottom of this network, which gives riders a fun place to push themselves with doubles and table tops.

- Butchers Trail: 1-3 hours | 3.2 km
- Grizzly Trail: 1-3 hours | 6 km (Loop)
- Lennard Half Circuit: 1-3 hours | 7 km
- Millbrook Trail: 1-3 hours | 8.3 km (also an Urban Walk)

This ten-kilometre loop trail in Wellington National Park is a dual-use mountain bike and walk trail. It starts at the Wellington Dam kiosk and loops through Jarrah and Marri forest, returning via the Potters Gorge camping area on Wellington Dam to the kiosk.
Wellington Mills or Welli Mills is a cornerstone of the local downhill race scene. There is a dirt road that accesses the top with several options down to the bottom. Some of the downhill tracks cross the very same road that vehicles have shuttle riders up so all parties need to be careful to avoid collisions.

True fanatics should spend a day at WA’s premier, private MTB park, Linga Longa near Balingup. Its awesome facilities are loved by those in the know and it also recently played host to the 2018 WA Gravity Enduro State Championships.
This family-friendly MTB track is 17.22 km in total, of which about 6 km is perfectly flat. Not for the pro-riders.
- Snottygobble – The most difficult part of the track, with some great hills for those in training.
- Walk track around town - This blue track is the walk track around town called the bicentennial, so please be careful for walkers. It connects the 3 MTB tracks and makes for a nice scenic ride around town and certainly you still feel it's relaxing on the bike. There is hardly anything technical about it, most of it is downhill or flat
- Skelly Wag - This is perfectly flat, great to ride warm or to get the kids confidence up. In summer you can cross the river as it is very shallow with some rapids. See whether you can cross the river on your bike here? It's a great venue for a picnic and also there is a geocache hidden here. Just download the geocache app and it's not that hard to find.
- Alecktrack Roo Run - On the way out it's all flat and you go past Roo Gully, the Roo sanctuary. However, on the way back, you'll get a surprise. On the map, it appears you're just going in and out, but hey wait there is more .... This section is a slight challenge physically and technically, nothing dangerous.
