Adapted from Tony Briggs’ play inspired by his mother’s real-life experience, The Sapphires tells the story of four Yorta Yorta women from an Aboriginal mission community. Struggling to find fame or belonging in 1960’s Australia, the singers form a girl-group and chase success entertaining American troops at the height of the Vietnam War. It’s an adventure which sees the four young women learn about love, friendship, and the harsh reality of war.
